CORRECTIVE EXERCISE | MASSAGE THERAPY
Lisa received her massage therapy license from the Muscular Therapy Institute (now Cortiva-Boston) in 2003. She approaches each massage session individually and tailors her treatments to the client's particular needs. Drawing on her experiences and training, she may incorporate deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, sports massage, stretching, Swedish massage, myokinesthetic work, or pre/post-natal techniques to the session.
In 2017, Lisa completed her Master's Degree in Human Movement Science and now offers corrective exercise sessions at Balance. Corrective exercise is a method of assessing and correcting postural and movement dysfunction that could be contributing to restriction and pain in the body. Imbalanced muscular activation and weakness can lead to improperly aligned joints. Corrective exercise uses specific massage therapy techniques, foam rolling, stretching, and strengthening to restore proper alignment to joints so that movement quality improves and pain cycles are broken.
Lisa has always been a sports enthusiast and fell in love with Muay Thai kickboxing a little over seven years ago and earned her black belt in 2016. When she's not at Balance, you can often find her at the martial arts dojo, training or teaching kickboxing and self-defense. She is thrilled to be joining Ralston Massage and Bodywork and the Balance Holistic Fitness team.
